"This award opens new doors for Pelcor and for cork based products and is a case of motivation and pride for Portugal," said the Algarve businesswoman , who expanded the creative and brand image of Pelcor, her father's the cork factory into the world fashion and design.
The brand Pelcor, besides being in the market for cork stoppers for the finest champagnes, wines and liquors in the world, is distinguished today by luxury designer products designed from the bark of the cork oak, where umbrellas are the more unique cork article on offer.
The brand also produces cosmetic bags, watches, bags, suitcases on wheels,shopping bags, coin bags, wallets for men. Pelcor has even created an exclusive line consisting of bag, pouch, wallet and door glasses for the singer Madonna when the artist was in Portugal in 2008.
Some of Pelcor's designer objects made of cork are on sale at the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) in New York, one of the most respected in the world.
